Co-Presidents ’ Corner:  Welcome to the 2010/11 School Year!

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome everyone back to school, in particular all our new families.
Our mission is to provide support to Central School by offering programs that enhance children’s learning
experiences as well as useful services to its members: parents and teachers.

Central School PTA organizes many wonderful events during the school year, including Scare Fair (our fall
fundraiser), Kindergarten Square Dance and our school play, The Wizard of Oz.

We look forward to seeing you at the Welcome Coffee on the first day of school where you will have the
opportunity to meet other members of the PTA. This will give you the chance to ask any questions you may
have and to learn about volunteer opportunities. That evening, at 6 pm, we invite you to our “Slice of Summer”
celebration which is our informal welcome-back-to-school gathering.

This year we are introducing a new event in January, Parents’ Night Out. This will be a fun event, with a
Silent Auction, and will give parents an opportunity to relax and socialize.

We are proud to announce that the PTA is forming a Grants Committee to provide grants to teachers and
administrators. This will enable them to apply for funds that will directly and positively impact the students in
the class. The Committee will be looking to support innovative and creative projects to enhance the curriculum.

We are also busy working to continuously improve our website (www.mamkschoolspta.org/central). The district

website is a great resource, giving up-to-date information on the school district including the school calendar. We

will be communicating regularly throughout the year by email in order to save paper.

We encourage everyone to join our PTA and become involved in the many wonderful aspects of our school
community. We look forward to seeing you all at Central School.
