Our Bodies, Our
Responsibilities

Making healthy
choices

responsibility for our own health and wellness
This class
is an introduction to health and wellness. The students will become aware
that the choices they make may have a direct impact on their health now
and in the future.
2.
Diseases
a.
Communicable and
non-communicable diseases
b.
Immune System
c.
Preventable diseases
d. Importance of hand washing
This unit
will give the students basic information related to all different types of
diseases and how our bodies fight off infection. We will discuss how
certain diseases may be preventable. For example: the importance of hand
washing to lessen your chances of getting colds and flu. These classes
will prepare students for future HIV/AIDS curriculum.

Human Growth and
Development

Puberty

Human Reproduction

Pregnancy
During
these three classes boys and girls will be separated. Students feel more
comfortable asking questions and receiving information about their body
development when they are with their own gender. At this time we will
discuss all the physical and emotional changes that happen during
puberty. We will also cover both the male and female reproductive system
so that they an understanding of conception and pregnancy. Boys and girls
will have the opportunity to learn about both sexes.

The purpose
of this class is so that children can identify inappropriate behavior and
know what to do in an undesired situation.
