PICKUP
and DROP-OFF LINE PROCEDURES
FOR SAFETY PATROL
When you arrive at 2:45
(or 2:15 if Wed.), please go inside by the security desk and get
an orange “Safety Patrol” vest to wear over your coat.
Basically, one volunteer is stationed by the crosswalk by the entrance
to the school and the other towards the end of the line on Ralph
Avenue. Both just want to nicely remind drivers to please move up
as much as possible so we can squeeze in as many cars on the line
as possible. However, feel free to move around on the line and not
stand in one place as traffic builds in certain areas and you want
to be where the build up is!
Those who cannot fit on the end of the line should be told to drive
around the school (rather than blocking the intersection) or around
The French School, and by the time they return to the line, there
should be a spot as kids start to come out of school and cars move
up and move on. The volunteer by the crosswalk near the entrance
to the school can also help cross parents and kids safely to the
parking lot.
Another thing to remember is unlike the morning when you have to
wait for the car in front of you to unload their kids, you don’t
necessarily have to have drivers wait in the afternoon. Obviously
if there is a car way in front whose kids are still not out and
the driver(s) behind her has already picked up her kids, she
can pass the car on the left and leave. You can safely guide the
driver out.
If you see cars driving into the parking lot and double parking,
please remind them they’re only supposed to use this lot to park
in a legal spot.
By 3:10/3:15 the latest, (2:45 on Wed.), the cars will be gone and
your job is over!
Most importantly, the Safety & Wellness Committee thanks you
SO MUCH for helping us out.

FOR DRIVERS
We are volunteering to
improve the efficiency and safety of this pick-up line and to make
sure all of our children are safe.
We desperately
need more volunteers!
Please consider picking
a day to work. It can be once a week for as little or as long as
you would like to do it, OR perhaps you'd like to volunteer for
one week straight and then no more after that! Whichever way you
would like to help would be appreciated.
The wintertime brings
more cars than ever to the line, so please help. Call Cristina Diaz
at 381-1154 or Sue Odierna at 777-1437. Thank you!
Pick-up Line
Prodecures for Drivers
1. Drive your car all
the way to the front of the line.
2. This line is never
to be used for parking. YOU MUST REMAIN WITH YOUR CAR.
3. Move as close as possible
to the car in front of you so that we can fit as many cars as possible
on this line.
4. Follow the directions
of the Volunteer on duty.
5. Always yield to pedestrians
crossing.
6. Only pick up your
children from the right side of the car (sidewalk side).
7. If you arrive at the
line and there is no room for your car, please do not block a crosswalk,
an intersection or prevent cars from driving through.
-- If there is no room for your car, you must circle around the
school and return to the line.
-- Hopefully when you return, the line will have started moving
forward and there will be room for your car. If not, you must circle
around again.
-- You may not block traffic from getting by at any time. |
