From the Larchmont/Mamaroneck Safe Routes to School Committee:

Safety tips for everyone:

* Before you cross the street, it's important to look left, right and then left again for traffic. But don't forget to look over your shoulder too.

* When crossing the street or a driveway, make eye contact with drivers to make sure they see you.

* Watch out for cars and trucks at every driveway and intersection on your walk to school. Look for drivers in parked cars, they may be getting ready to move.
