And don’t forget to check your child’s backpack for his or her Wish List. Stop by Mon, Oct 22, 8:15am-4pm; Tues, Oct 23, 8:15am-4pm & 6-8pm; Wed, Oct 24, 8:15am-4pm & 6-8pm; and Thurs, Oct 25, 8:15am-noon. Special event: James Howe, the author of many books for children and teenagers, including the Bunnicula series, will be making a presentation on Tues, Oct 23 and signing books. It’s never too late to volunteer. If interested, please contact Suzanne Raved
Attention 1st Grade Parents
Come to the 1st Grade Level Coffee on Fri, Oct 26 from 9:15 to 10:30am in the Small Lunchroom. Meet our Principal, Assistant Principal, your Grade Level Rep and other 1st grade parents. Bring your questions, or just stop by to say hello.
After-School Clubs
Clubs that meet on Mondays through Thursdays will begin next week. Due to the early dismissal on Fri, Oct 26, Friday clubs will have their first meeting the following Friday, Nov 2. You can find the club locations on the bulletin board outside the library.
Third Grade Cultural Arts
From Fri, Oct 26 through Tues, Oct 30, 3rd graders will participate in storytelling workshops with nationally renowned storytellers The Storycrafters. The children will learn the art of storytelling through folktales drawn from around the world. They will use highly participatory exercises that draw on creative language, oral speaking skills, drama and movement. The Storycrafters will focus on Native American tales that remind people that it is essential to respect and practice age-old traditions. Parents are welcome to attend a demonstration by The Storycrafters with the 3rd graders on Tues, Oct 30 at 9:15am in the auditorium. Because the performance is geared towards 3rd graders and is not designed to hold the attention of a younger audience, parents are asked not to bring along younger siblings. This program is sponsored by the PTA and coordinated by the PTA Cultural Arts Committee in conjunction with a special committee of teachers and administrators who work together to plan enrichment programs for every grade. Special thanks to third grade teacher Ms. Graseck, who sits on this committee and to Assistant Principal Cruz Soler for coordinating the program schedule.
