Important Playground Survey Available Here
The large playground at Murray needs resurfacing, and the District, together with its field consultants, is exploring alternative surfaces: – softer and safer options that meet the needs of the school community. On Wed, Nov 7, the District will meet with Murray teachers, administrators and the PTA executive board to get input on how we currently use our playgrounds and what features are needed to meet the needs of our school programs and our children. A playground survey will be coming home in your children’s backpacks on Fri, Oct 26 and will be due back by Fri, Nov 2. The results of this survey will be reported on by the PTA exec board to the District at the Nov 7 meeting. This is an opportunity to voice your opinions and suggestions regarding the Murray playgrounds – please take the time to complete the survey. Any questions, please contact either Sue Bokert or Kristine Budill.
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You:
To the exceptional team behind the success of the annual Book Fair: the hardworking and dedicated Committee co-Chairs Lauri Feldman, Suzanne Raved, Stacey Ewald, Shari Levine and Jennifer Nabi; the enthusiastic Murray staff; our energetic parent volunteers; and you, the book-buying Murray community. To Ms. Larva and Mr. Brady for reading to the children on Tuesday evening, a special thanks. To Mrs. Tanenbaum for her endless support and extended involvement with our special guest, author James Howe, whose visit was a tremendous success across all grade levels. The book selection and quantity were outstanding! Congratulations!!
To the Beautification Committee and the Fifth Grade for planting bulbs on the school grounds last week. We will all appreciate your efforts next year when Spring returns to Murray!
Attention Kindergarten Parents
Come to the Kindergarten Grade Level Coffee on Mon, Oct 29 from 9:15 to 10:30am in the Small Lunchroom. Meet Principal Scazafave, Assistant Principal Soler, your Grade Level Rep and other Kindergarten parents. Bring your questions or just stop by to say hello.
KIDS CARE: Thanksgiving Food Collection
It's almost Thanksgiving, a time of year when we recognize how fortunate most of us are in the Larchmont/Mamaroneck community. However, there are many families in our own neighborhood who have trouble buying food after their bills are paid. Murray Avenue students can lend a helping hand. The Murray Avenue PTA Community Outreach Committee, in conjunction with the Larchmont/Mamaroneck Hunger Task Force, is looking for Murray students and their families to volunteer one hour of their time to help collect and sort food donations so that everyone in our community can have a Thanksgiving meal this year. Help make a difference by signing up for a one-hour shift on Sat, Nov 17 at Stop & Shop on the Boston Post Road, 9am-4:00pm. A parent must accompany student volunteers. To sign up, contact Kristen McCarthy or Jennifer Hirschhorn. Murray Kids Care!
"Food for Thought” from the PTA Nutrition and Wellness Committee
Why not think about going healthy this Halloween? Consider giving out small treats like glow sticks, erasers, balls, or stickers instead of food. If you really want to give out food, choose small bags of pretzels, animal crackers, or even smaller candy bars instead of the larger ones.
Help Keep Murray Clean!
Please put your garbage in the trash cans. Also, if you see garbage on the playground, pick it up and throw it away. Help to keep our school clean and beautiful! A reminder from the Beautification Committee.
One More Chance to Order Mini-Directories
There is a limited quantity left, so turn in your order form or contact Tracy Owen, Maureen LeBlanc, or Jane Bernstein.
