TODAY is Last Chance to Order School Supplies and Science Fair Pizza: TO ORDER SCHOOL SUPPLIES: Please submit the completed order form with a check in the school supplies drawer outside the main office. If you’ve misplaced your school supply order form, you may download another one from the home page of the Murray PTA website. For more info email Laura Lavan at  rlavan@msn.com or Kristine Budill at kbudill@diplex.com. TO ORDER PIZZA: Please send an email to Nina Eisenberg at neisenberg@mamkschools.org and let her know how many slices of pizza you’d like for the night of the Science Fair, next Thurs June 4.

The Murray Ave Science Fair Is Next Thurs June 4: Students set up their projects on Thurs June 4 after school between 3-5pm. The Science Fair will take place that evening from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. Students should be on hand during that time to present their projects. During the school day on Fri, students will visit the fair with their classes. On Fri June 5 between 3-4 pm students must pick up their projects. Any questions? Contact Jill Simpson at jillsimpson@optonline.net, Pam Nodiff at pnodiff@infoactivetech.com, or Sophie Cowles at jack.cowles@wharton.upenn.edu.

NEW THIS YEAR! A Science Book Fair: In conjunction with the Science Fair, great kids’ science-related books and kits will be for sale in the Large Lunchroom from 3:30-8:00pm on Thurs June 4 to benefit SEPTA. Build on the excitement of the Science Fair and keep nurturing your kids’ scientific curiosity! For more information or to volunteer, please contact Cecilia Absher at ctabsher@att.net.

Final Grade Level Meeting for this Year--Thurs June 4: If you would like to include a question or an issue in the agenda, please contact your Grade Level rep. The reps are K: Mary Rodrigues, mrodrigues@ajrginc.com; 1st: Sheelagh Thomson, sheelaghthomson@msn.com; 2nd: Melissa Donaghy, mskdpt@optonline.net; 3rd: Diane Katz, skatzdee@aol.com; 4th: Robin Plonsker, rplonsker@optonline.net; 5th: Beth Bienstock, biens@optonline.net, Kathy Eisberg, Kathy.se@verizon.net, and Lauri Feldman, pandlfeldman@mindspring.com; and SEPTA: Liz Paras, paras@cims.nyu.edu.

PTA Volunteer Coffee and Meeting Fri June 12:  Please come to the Large Lunchroom on Fri June 12 at 9:15am for the PTA Volunteer Coffee – a chance for the PTA to say “thank you” to our hard working parent volunteers -- and stay to hear Ms. Monaco’s annual “State of the School” address. We will also install the PTA Executive Board for next year.

Open PTA Committee Chair Positions for 09/10: There are several rewarding PTA Committee Chair positions still open for next year: After School Clubs, Lost & Found, Murray Memories (Yearbook), Murray Minute (e-mail news), Parent/Faculty Programs, Spring Fair, Welcome Committee and Winter Whirl. If you are interested, please contact Debra Schwartz at 834-6566 or email Ynot0202@me.com.

Register Your Child for Next Year’s School Musical: Keep an eye out for registration forms for next year’s school musical in your child’s backpack next week. Registration forms must be postmarked June 15 or later and spots will be filled on a first-come first-served basis by grade level.

PTA Thanks of the Week: Thank you to our Cultural Arts team for another successful year: Committee co-Chairs Stacey Chervin, Amy Fastenberg, Laura Landau, and Allison Smith; Cruz Soler, for scheduling all workshops and performance assemblies; and each of the teacher liaisons to the committee for their support and invaluable input. Thank you to Sophie Cowles for spearheading this year’s Arts Festival, and to the many families who came out and enjoyed the evening’s performances and art exhibit.

Attn Parents of 5th Graders--Hommocks PTA Needs Yearbook Asst Editors for 6th Grade: The Hommocks PTA is looking for four editors (one from each elementary school) to share the responsibility for taking candid photos of your grade and helping with the grade's portrait page (e.g.: making sure names are correct, etc.). Candids (of special events, sports, club activities, etc) are taken during the school day and usually during the kids’ lunch hour. It's a great opportunity to be in school seeing all the action and interactions. This is a three-year position, moving to 7th grade assistant and finally becoming the Yearbook Editor in 8th grade, when you’ll be managing responsibilities of yearbook staff and compiling pictures for layout. If interested please contact Joyce Callahan at JoyceCallahan@optonline.net.
