Cleaning your Attic or Basement during Spring Break? If so, the Spring Fair Basket Raffle team needs your help! Who among us doesn't have a bunch of board games, craft projects and gifts we never opened? Thinking of re-gifting? While tempting, DON'T!! Give them to us! We are happy to take your donations of NEW, UNUSED board games, video games, DVDs, CDs, craft projects, etc. Also, please think of us while you're shopping (locally, of course!). We can use bagged candy, beach items, games, Mad Libs, and sports merchandise, to name a few. The 5th Graders will be conducting a “Penny Drive” (quarters, nickels, and dimes also gladly accepted!) to help pay for the cost. This past Wednesday and Thursday, parent reps visited each 5th grade classroom to hand out a flyer explaining the fundraising effort and to help brainstorm ideas to collect the coins. Some of the ideas included at-home lemonade stands/bake sales; searching through drawers, couches and cars; and just putting out a jar on the kitchen counter for donations. We encouraged the children to be creative and to make it fun. The drive will begin when we return from vacation so the children have plenty of time to conduct their hunts and entrepreneurial ventures. The class that raises the most money will win a pizza party. Good luck and let the collecting begin! RSVP Deadline for 5th Grade Oral History Interviewees is April 17:This year's 5th Grade Oral History Day will be held on Thurs May 7th from 1-3pm. The 5th grade is looking forward to a fun and fascinating afternoon interviewing senior citizens and learning the value of the live interview as a historical research tool--but we need your help! Flyers and invitations were distributed to all 5th graders this week. Students are encouraged to invite grandparents or any senior citizens who have an interesting life history to share and can join us on that day. RSVP deadline is April 17th. Parent volunteers are needed to escort guests/moderate interview sessions and to help with a short closing reception in the Lunchroom for all participants. Please contact Oral History Co-Chairs Suzanne Corbin corbinfam@aol.com (834-7343) and Maureen Knowles Cm5knowles@aol.com (834-6193). Thanks! Check out the TV Turn-off Week Activities: TV Turn-Off Week is coming soon! Mark these fun events on your calendars and remember -- parent/caregiver must attend and advance sign up is required.
