On Tuesday, March 23rd and Thursday, March 25th the PTA's Cultural Arts Committee brings the program entitled “Out of Africa” to all third grade students at Murray Avenue. Each student will participate in this hands-on workshop during which they craft an mbira and learn about this African instrument. The children will learn to play and then perform and dance to the music. Artist Kevin Hylton returns this year after receiving high acclaim from all who experienced this program at Murray over the last two years. This enriching program enhances the third grade curriculum which includes an in depth study of Africa. The program will be conducted in the art room throughout both days. Thank you to Mrs. Arminio, Mrs. Revich and Mrs. Soler for all your coordinating efforts with Cultural Arts!
The SEPTA Nominating Committee is seeking nominations for SEPTA members to serve on SEPTA's executive board for the 2010-2011 school year. Serving on the SEPTA board is an excellent way to become more informed about special education and make a valuable contribution to the educational environment for our children with special needs. If you or someone you know might be interested in serving, please contact Phyllis Raja (834-8467), Deb Ezbitski (216-3694), or Marianne Hoffman (629-1413).
Murray School Supplies Committee extends a sincere thank you to the administration and teachers for their valuable feedback from last year to make the packages even better for September. Many thanks to our Treasurer Meg Bausano and to Andrew Howse, Murray's Web Guru, for posting the program on-line and making on-line payment available this year. One-third of our orders were placed online through the Murray website - another way we were green tigers! Special thanks to School Supply Committee co-chairs Laura Lavan, Kristine Budill, Allison Stahl and Suzy Huang for all of their hard work towards making this program a huge success.
