  • Last Day to Order Mini Directories

Today is the last day to pre-order a mini directory.  Don’t miss out.  The pre-order form is available in the PTA forms section of this website.

  • Class Lists Went Out This Week

You should have received your child's class list this week.  If any information changes during the year please be sure to update it with the school office.  Full-size school directories are expected to be handed out by the end of October.

  • Spirit Wear Orders Due by October 15th

Murray Avenue School Spirit Wear-Check out the display case outside the Main office with the NEW Murray merchandise!  To order and see sizing, come see samples of sweatshirts (zip & pullover), sweatpants and long sleeve t-shirts next Wednesday (10/14) at 2:30 pm outside the main entrance in front of the school.  Too much to run to after school?  No problem.  Just email either Jen Nabi or Shari Levine and we will gladly set up a time for you to see samples.  First round of orders is due by October 15th.  Next round will be in Jan/Feb so get your MUR merchandise NOW for the holidays!  Order forms can also be found on this website under PTA forms.

  • Mini Calendars

Mini calendars are still available for $10.  Contact Germaine Cuff or call 347-702-2855 before they run out!

  • SEPTA Networking Meeting - Learning Differences in the Elementary Years

Does your child in K - 5th Grade struggle with academic or social learning differences? Come join other parents to discuss common concerns, brainstorm ideas, and share strategies for raising and educating elementary age students with different learning styles and needs. A trained facilitator will moderate the discussion on Wednesday, October 14th from 7:30 -9:30 pm at the Hommocks Library Presentation Room. Contact: Linda Banta at 834-7488.

  • 5th Grade Parent Volunteer Forms and Activities Dues are due by October 16th!

Please volunteer to chair or help out with one or more of the 5th grade activities this year.  We still need volunteers for Graduation Ceremony, Class T-shirt, Class Gift, Fundraising Project, Printing Projects and 5th Grade Video.  Please turn in your completed Volunteer Form and $75 check payable to Murray Avenue PTA to the drawer marked “5th Grade Activities” outside the main office.  Scholarships are available.  Please contact Principal Monaco for details.  Extra letters and Volunteer Forms are available in the rack on the wall outside the office.  Any questions, please contact Robin Plonsker.

  • Get Your Box Tops 4 Education in by October 16th!

Box Tops don't improve with age!  The earlier we submit our Box Tops, the faster we will get money for this year's PTA class grants and cultural arts.  While it's a year-round collection program, General Mills only sends out checks twice a year.  Any Box Tops we submit this month will be reimbursed in December.  So please drop your Box Tops in the collection box by the office no later than next Friday, October 16th.  With your help, we will make our goal for this period!  And don't forget to register online at http://www.boxtops4education.com/common/Register.aspx for monthly coupons and bonus Box Tops opportunities.  For more information, please contact Ellen Howse or call 917-446-9396.

  • After School Clubs

After School Club Applications are closed.  The listings will be posted on the PTA bulletin board across from the school library on Wednesday, October 14th.  Contact Pam Washington with any questions.

  • Demystifying Dyslexia - October 21st- Sponsored by SEPTA

What is Dyslexia? How can Dyslexia be identified and diagnosed? What help might your child need? What are practical tips for struggling parents? Danielle Mowery from the NY branch of the International Dyslexia Association will discuss these topics and answer parents' questions on Wednesday, October 21st at 7:30 pm in the Hommocks School Library. Contact: Lisa Marr or Patty Wolff.

  • Countdown to Bake Sale:  Thursday, October 22!

The annual Bake Sale is coming in two short weeks! We still need workers to fill a few short shifts throughout the day, as well as MANY bakers to make the event a success! • Thanks for the Week

Many thanks to all of the Murray walkers and parent volunteers who helped make Fall Walk to School Week a success.  Our gratitude to Walk to School co-chairs Sarah Coady, Martha Sundin and Shannon Powell for pulling together a wonderful and valuable program.  Murray now has 26 walking school buses with more than 130 children in all grade levels charting their walks to school each Wednesday.  Also, a BIG thanks to our volunteer marshals who escorted the walking buses to school on their first official walk and to our Murray mascot who helped make the event extra special.  Murray Walks!
