Book Fair Details

Please come on over to the Murray Avenue Small Gym and browse our wonderful selection of books!  In addition to a great array of popular and best selling titles, we will offer books recommended by Murray teachers, the  Mamaroneck Literacy Design Team, PARP, Murray Avenue student book clubs, and the new Healthy Kids/Healthy World committee.

All proceeds earned by the Book Fair go to Murray Avenue School.

Volunteers Needed

Help us raise money and give back to Murray!  Volunteers will help students select books, parents find titles, and teachers fill their class bookshelves.  We also need volunteers to set up and take down the book fair.

If you’d like to volunteer a few hours during the fair, Thursday set up (Nov. 10), or Thursday clean up (November 17) please contact Ellen Kaldor or Clare McIntyre.

Annual Murray Avenue Library Fundraiser

Through this annual fundraiser we have been able to help Mrs. Tanenbaum supplement the Murray Avenue Library collection. Every year Mrs. Tanenbaum chooses a theme for the Library Fundraiser. This year’s theme is Non-Fiction and Fiction Pairs (for example Frog and Toad along side the non fiction Red Eye Tree Frog). Non-fiction exposure in primary grades increases information literacy skills, thus creating more skilled readers and researchers in the upper grades. By pairing non-fiction with fiction it allows children to learn about a variety of genres and accommodates different reading interests. Mrs. Tanenbaum is requesting books that will expand and improve the Library’s collection of fiction and non-fiction pairings. At the Book Fair, you can choose to:

  1. Purchase a book(s) for the Library from our “Fiction/Non-Fiction” table, which will hold titles selected by Mrs. Tanenbaum. If you choose this option, a book plate with your family name will be placed on the inside cover of the book you donate. Or,
  2. Simply make a donation at the register. At the end of the Fair, Mrs. Tanenbaum will use the money collected to purchase any titles on her list that have not been purchased during the Fair.

Look for the Murray Avenue Fiction/Non-Fiction Table as you shop at the Fair. Perhaps you will find great pairings that you will want to share with your family. What a great way to help your kids select fun and interesting books and learn at the same time.

All who give to the Library fundraiser will be entered into our “Basket of Books” raffle.  The drawing for the two baskets will be the last day of the Fair!
